And Today is celena's 30th birthday...happy birthday!

The 99¢ TV Stand!

Soooo I came across an ebay listing not too long ago for an HDTV Stand on Ebay, with no reserve, no bids, and a pick-up location in Carthage. Hmmm...considering Marshall's parents live nearby in Robbins, I thought maybe this would be a great buy. I bidded at 99¢ and thought I would see how it turned out - Which sometimes with ebay you get outbidded, and the price goes up over what you expected and yeaaa. So to my surprise I won it for 99¢ and with the free pickup of Paw Paw Reynolds who said he would go by and get it for me and bring it the next time he came to Asheboro to watch Izzy! :P Yah! I called the guy to arrange pick-up and he expressed to me how much of a great deal I was getting here (Duh! :P) and that he paid over $250 for it. Wow. Well I could never ever see myself spending that kind of money for a freakin' TV stand but, I guess his loss is my gain.

Actual Picture of the Stand from the Ebay Listing

The outrageously priced one that I found on Google Product search. A mere TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY EIGHT DOLLAR TV STAND!!!!!!!! Good Greifff!

So far...

First off, a little overview of the apartment I am moving into:

-2 Bedroom/1 Bath
-2nd bedroom = Office/Study Area
-2nd Floor of a two floor unit, four apartments per building with a courtyard arrangement of three buildings total
-Hardwood floors throughout (deal maker)
-Spacious wood balcony/deck
-Great closet space!
-My rent includes all my water, $75 electricity allowance and cable (perk for the starving college student :P)
-Includes stove and refrigerator
-Located less than a mile from UNCG's campus and is right in from of the Higher Education Area Transit (a.k.a HEAT Bus) Stop, which takes me right to campus! It's free for students and I thought it would be great to support UNCG's "Not all about parking" campaign that suggests students get involved in alternative transportation and car pulling to GO GREEN!
-Located directly across from Lindley Park (awesome place to study , go for a walk or have a picnic)
-They are pet friendly as well and I am most likely going to have Bo come stay with me if Celena and Clark decide to give him to another home ( They're thinking maybe Izzy's constant colds and runny noses may be an allergy :/ )

So far I have purchased:
-Textured Iron Bistro Table and chairs with creme fabric cushions (my first purchase)
-4-piece Black/Gray/White Queen-sized Comforter set. Paisley/Floral pattern (Will be purchasing the bed room suite closer to August - looking to buy an Sleigh Wrought iron set from my Uncle's furniture corp)
-Bar Set with a fun black and white serving tray I found at Target
-Faux Leather Wine rack
-2 Silver base/White Shade contemporary lamps from Bed Bath and Beyond
-Large, framed, Parisian painting that my Aunt bought for me at TJ Maxx Home Furnishings (will be going back there SOON! I've been to the one in Apex and High Point and they have some awesome things) It sort of reminded me of an early scene of Marshall and I :P
-Black Iron/Glass Coffee and End Table set (please excuse the pictures I haven't hand a chance to clean them since they've been in the garage so they're a little dusty) I got these off of Craigslist for $30 all together! Although since I've purchased the Lillberg sofa and loveseat, I'm not so sure about them going with the light wood base :/.....any feedback on this??!?
-Espresso wood chair from Target (to go with my secretary desk)
-A Few framed art pieces and a silver photo frame with a clock (very cute)
-A few outdoor lanterns, one that I love from TJ Maxx home furnishings which is blue glass with silver accents and has a tea light holder) it has a very Balinese vibe to it. And a black metal swinging leaf lantern that I got from Big Lots.
-An awesome Catskill Kitchen cart with a double dropleaf extension on the butcher block, with removable wire racks and a single wooden drawer. Easy to move as it is on wheels.I got this for a steal at $25 on Criagslist and found it online at Lowes for $309!!!! See link here
-3-tier Wire shelf unit from target
-Haier Portable Dishwasher
-Kenmore Portable washer and dryer
-Lillberg Sofa and Loveseat
-Currently Fugly-stencil painted wooden secretary desk, that I am refinishing and painting satin black! With all new silver accents and knobs!

Lillberg Sofa and Loveseat ...&... Kenmore Portable Washer and Dryer

So I came across an Ad on Craigslist for an Ikea sofa and loveseat that "looked like futon furniture" and came to find out it was the Lillberg line from Ikea they made a few years ago. I go to look at the set and walk in to find a set that was in perfect condition! It didn't even show signs of daily wear and was in the couples second seating area that they hardly used. It was listed as $150 but I was able to get them both for $125, because they were in the process of moving. I wasn't crazy about the wood veneer adjustable base, and was afraid I was buying something for a dorm room instead of the chic apartment I was aiming for. However, after a little research, I was thrilled about the fabric cushion options that were out there for the lillberg edition. All of the cushion covers are interchangeable between the 1-1 Chair, the 2-2 Loveseat, and the 3-3 Sofa. I have already found a 6-piece set for the sofa in cream that I am planning to order. That really is one of the plus side about this set, is the machine washable cushion covers! I think it will be a good starter at least for now and will go with the contemporary look i'm going for. Here are some pictures of what people have done with them in their designs and there is some straight from the IKEA showroom.

(My current set is Black, by the way!)

I would really love to get the Andrea Rug from IKEA as well...if I do order the cream color covers!

-------------

Yesterday, Marshall and I went to Charlotte to look at a Compact/Portable Kenmore Washer and Dryer. FYI: My apartment does not have W/D hookups so I have been looking at portable models to purchase. I pretty much hit the jackpot on this deal, the guy selling them had been storing them in his garage, after his niece, who had a baby and moved into a place that already had a washer and dryer. Needless to say, I got them both for $275!!!!!!!! (Thank you Craigslist!) He said they were only used a handful of times, and they look brand new, with the exception of a worn down start button on the washing machine. The dryer hooks into a 120v outlet and it takes a little longer to dry than a regular dryer but it will do the job! I am buying a sink faucet adapter for the washer, which allows it to be hooked up to the sink. They are also on casters so it can be wheeled from the closet into the kitchen to hook up, which is very functional. I am thinking about getting a stack rack from Sam's Club that is made just for the portable models and putting it in the corner of the office (the second bedroom) and just wheeling the washer off the bottom space when I need to use it, but I haven't decided if I want to do that or just stow them away in the closet and wheel them out. All in favor?!?! I also got a portable, tabletop dishwasher a few months ago, that I will be hooking up to the sink as well.

Below are pictures of my Washer and Dryer, and some have clothes stuffed in them to show what they can hold! Which is suprisingly a lot! However with the portables its never good to overstuff them, even though the washer can handle it, it will probably mean an hour and a half in the dryer! I put 7 EMS dress shirts (quite bulky) and a sweat shirt in them both. (It was all i could find in the Garage :P)

That's all for now....more to come!
Another day, another deal...

First Post/Yard Sale Find!

First post! I thought I would begin a blog to post some things about my search for furnishings, for my upcoming move-in in August. I thought it would be a good way to keep up with what I have bought cumulatively, and not to mention I'll get opinions from those who need to keep my taste in check !

Today, I hit the YMCA community yard sale, to support my pseudo-sis-in-law (:P) but didn't really find much. However, I hit a sale off of Zoo Parkway and found the cutest little white wooden desk for little Ms. Izzy for $10.

Yard Sales and Craigslist...THE SEARCH CONTINUES!!!!!!!!!
